November Newsletter

Hi there Jazz Lovers!

Welcome to my November newsletter!

Wow what a year it’s been! I’ve done so many festivals and gigs and there’re still more coming this year and beyond.

Most wonderful news! I have secured three new regular gigs in the Central Coast, where I reside. Travelling to and from gigs can test my time and energy levels so thank you Central Coast for embracing me into the fold, giving me the opportunity to perform for my homies 😊

Here are details of my upcoming gigs, on the Central Coast, in Sydney and in Canberra:

THE FAT GOOSE | Hardy’s Bay

The Fat Goose is an excellent cafe-restaurant in my hometown of Hardy’s Bay. The owners have introduced live jazz once a month and I’m thrilled that they have asked me to be an inaugural guest performer, in duos with the incredible Daryl Neve (9 November) and Fiona Lugg (7 December).

The owners have called the sessions Sound Bites on Saturdays and will be serving their quality canapés with drinks to those who would like to enjoy a bite while listening to live jazz from yours truly once a month.

Details here:

9 Nov 2024 – Carolyn with Daryl Neve

8 Dec 2024 – Carolyn with Fiona Lugg

THE LINK AND PIN | Woy Woy

Wednesdays from 13 Nov 2024 | 7-10 PM

How wonderful to be asked back to The Link and Pin. I’ll be playing there Wednesdays from 13 November till the end of the year.

This is a groovy little bar and restaurant with a charming atmosphere, and with locals who love listening and watching me play.

The wonderful All-Girl band Bonnie Kay and the Sweet Patooties (in which I play keyboards), are coming to play at The Hardy’s Bay Club,

These ladies know how to rock the blues and boogie and a night of dancing will be definitely on the cards for all who attend.

CAROLYN PACKER’S STOMPIN’ RHYTHM ACES | Jazz at the Pines

Sun 17 Nov 2024 | 12:30 PM

My wonderful Stompin’ Rhythm Aces band will be performing at Jazz at the Pines Sunday.

Jazz at the Pines is a favourite for several reasons:

One, my nickname is Pine and it is so fitting I should play jazz with my band under the Pine trees in the grounds of the famous Roughley House, a piece of Australian history.
Secondly, the Hills district is where I, and my dear guitarist friend Cameron Jones grew up – though I am just a little older than Cam!

And thirdly, I simply love the way the Rotary club organises this venue so people can cruise in with friends bringing their own picnic basket and drinks and soaking up the lovely atmosphere in the pretty surroundings.

Details and bookings here.

CAROLYN PACKER AND CAMERON JONES | The Thunderbolt Club

Tue 26 Nov 2024 | 7 PM

Cameron Jones and I are taking our New Orleans to Paris show to the Thunderbolt club. We’ll be ably joined by David Seidel on bass and Fran Rojas on drums. These cats played on my latest album, Time To Feel Love, and I will be performing many of the tunes showcased on the album.

BLUES PIANO NIGHT | Harmonie German Club, Canberra

Fri 22 Nov 2024 | 8 PM

And finally, in November I’ll be off to my second home in Canberra for the incomparable Blues Piano Night, hosted by the Canberra Blues Society. I will be a guest along with four other incredible boogie woogie players: Jan Preston, Ali Penney, John Black and Don Hopkins!

This will be a great night of blues piano and boogie-woogie!

Not to be missed!
